How to play
How to Play Cat Mine
Explore adjacent mine tiles, monitor energy and carrying space, then confirm a return when you want to settle the trip.
- 01
Choose Explore for free from the camp screen. Read the selected cat and the current expedition counters.
- 02
Use WASD, arrow keys, or tap an adjacent tile as the player instructs. Begin with a visible resource near the entrance.
- 03
When a discovery window appears, read its item and value, then choose Packed! Keep exploring to return to the mine.
- 04
Check energy and backpack space after each meaningful action. A deeper route is useful only if it fits the resources remaining.
- 05
Use Rope home to review the return confirmation. Choose Confirm return for the ordinary settlement, then inspect the camp wallet, orders, and next-trip upgrade options.
About the game
Cat Mine
Cat Mine combines small-grid exploration with a camp progression loop. Choose a cat, enter a free expedition, and move through nearby mine tiles to find resources. The expedition displays depth, energy, and backpack capacity together. Those three numbers describe different limits: how far you have explored, how much activity remains, and how much you can carry.
The opening expedition with Cream begins near the entrance at four meters, with 110 of 122 energy and an empty fifteen-slot backpack. Selecting the adjacent copper-bearing tile below the cat produces a Copper nugget discovery. After closing that discovery, depth reads eight meters, energy is 108, and the backpack holds one item. This is the basic loop to learn before aiming for a long descent: choose a reachable tile, collect the result, and inspect the new limits.
Returning is part of the game rather than a failure to explore. Rope home opens a confirmation, and the ordinary Confirm return option completes the trip. The short copper expedition returns with six camp coins and advances the visible copper order to one of four. A nearby advertisement recovery option is separate; you can use the ordinary return route without selecting it.

Useful strategy
Make your next move count
- Read the expedition counters, not only workshop base values. Your selected setup can make the displayed trip limits different.
- Collect an easy nearby resource before committing to a long route. A short trip teaches the movement and settlement loop.
- Plan the next few adjacent squares. A distant valuable picture is not useful until you have a reachable path to it.
- When a discovery closes, inspect depth, energy, and backpack again. The popup can hide the information needed for your next decision.
- Compare permanent gear with one-trip supplies. Their labels describe different durations, so choose for the trip you intend to make.
- Before confirming return, inspect the haul summary. After settlement, use the actual wallet and order progress rather than an assumed reward.
Use depth, energy, and backpack as separate planning signals
Depth tells you where the expedition has reached. It does not tell you how many items you are carrying or how much activity remains. In the first copper move, depth increases from four to eight meters while the backpack gains one item. A route that goes deeper without collecting much can be a different kind of progress from a shallow route with several useful discoveries.
Energy is the available activity budget shown by the current trip. The copper action reduces it from 110 to 108 in the opening example. Do not turn that example into a universal cost for every kind of tile. Read the new energy value after a different action, and adjust your route based on what the game actually spends.
Backpack capacity is a carrying limit. The opening trip displays one item out of fifteen after mining copper. When considering another resource, ask whether you have room for it and whether it supports your current objective. A valuable-looking tile can be a poor detour if reaching it uses too much of the remaining expedition budget.
Choose reachable steps instead of distant destinations
The player explicitly offers adjacent-tile tapping alongside keyboard movement. Start by identifying the cat’s current square and its neighboring options. Select a nearby resource and observe the response. This is easier to reason about than tapping a distant object and assuming the game will automatically find a safe path.
After moving into a new area, redraw the immediate route mentally. Which neighboring square continues downward? Which offers a useful resource? Which preserves a way to inspect another branch? You do not need a complete map before moving, but a two- or three-step plan can prevent a series of aimless choices.
The mine interface also offers a limited Scan nearby control. Treat it as information support rather than assuming it produces resources or eliminates every uncertainty. Read its current count and the visible result if you choose to use it. The basic copper discovery can be reached without spending a scan, so learn ordinary movement before depending on extra tools.
Connect a discovery to a camp objective
A discovery popup gives an item a name and shows information about it. The first copper window identifies a common Copper nugget and presents a five-gold item label, together with information about recorded discoveries and relic fragments. Read that as item information. The total trip settlement can be different, as the short opening return awards six camp coins.
At camp, the visible order asks for four copper items and shows an eighty-gold reward. After the one-copper trip, its count becomes one of four. That provides a concrete next objective: find more of the required material while watching the trip limits. It does not establish that the order is complete or that the reward has already been paid.
Use an order as a way to prioritize exploration. If two nearby resources are available and one advances your current delivery goal, compare that benefit with the effort needed to reach it. Do not pursue a distant target merely because its name matches the order. A manageable route that returns useful progress can be better than an uncertain deep expedition.
Return through the ordinary confirmation
Rope home opens a decision window rather than immediately settling the trip. It displays the backpack, a projected haul figure, and the available return choices. Read the panel before confirming. In the opening copper run, the projected figure shows zero while the final settlement awards six; the final result and camp wallet are the clearer evidence of what was received.
The same panel presents an advertisement-based energy recovery option. That is a separate branch from Confirm return. You do not need to select recovery to complete the basic camp loop. Choose the ordinary confirmation when you want to end the current expedition and review what you brought home.
After returning, check three places: the settlement summary, the wallet, and the current order. The short opening trip reports eight meters explored, adds six gold, and updates copper progress. This sequence makes the result understandable. Closing a discovery window alone does not mean an item has already become spendable camp currency.
Compare next-trip gear with temporary supplies
The camp labels Gear as permanent upgrades and Supplies as one-trip boosts. The Gear workshop states that its improvements apply on the next trip. That timing matters: a workshop purchase should be part of planning a future expedition rather than an expectation that it retroactively changes the expedition you just settled.
The initial workshop shows Pickaxe, Backpack, and Trail rations at level zero, each with a forty-gold next purchase. The previews describe stronger damage, additional carrying capacity, and more energy per run. Compare the limitation you actually encountered. If you ran out of carrying space first, capacity deserves attention; if activity ended before you reached useful tiles, inspect energy-related choices.
The workshop’s base labels and the expedition’s active limits are not identical in the opening setup. For example, the base backpack preview begins at twelve while Cream’s trip displays fifteen. Avoid assuming a menu base number is your final in-mine capacity. Read the actual trip counters after starting, and do not invent the cause of a bonus you have not inspected.
Build the next expedition from the last result
A first trip does not need to be long to be useful. One reachable copper tile teaches collection, a discovery window, backpack change, and return settlement. Use that information to choose a slightly more ambitious second route. A clear small improvement is easier to evaluate than changing the cat, supplies, gear, and destination all at once.
Before leaving camp, name one objective: advance the visible copper order, learn a nearby branch, or test a next-trip upgrade after you can afford it. Keep the objective within the current energy and carrying limits. The camp contains more progression panels, but you can learn the ordinary exploration loop without opening every system immediately.
Quick answers
Cat Mine FAQ
How do I mine the first resource?
Select a reachable neighboring resource tile. The opening copper tile below Cream produces a discovery and adds one backpack item.
How do I return without using an ad?
Choose Rope home, read the confirmation, and select Confirm return. The recovery advertisement is a separate option.
Do gear upgrades affect the current trip?
The Gear workshop states that permanent improvements apply on the next trip. Read the next expedition’s counters afterward.
Why is the trip reward different from the item label?
The discovery and settlement show different figures. Use the final settlement and camp wallet to understand the coins actually received.
